With one out of five species of raptors facing extinction, The Mohamed bin Zayed Raptor Conservation Fund was established in 2018 to develop solutions to key global challenges facing this iconic group of birds.

Using sound science, our signature project has focused on the Mongolian steppes where we have been working with local partners to tackle the threat of raptor electrocutions from low voltage distribution lines that killed an estimated 18,000 raptors a year, including 4,000 Saker Falcons.

Since then and working with local partners, our raptor conservation portfolio has extended to Bulgaria (captive restoration of the endangered Saker Falcon), the Philippines (translocation of the critically endangered Philippine Eagle) and the United States (impacts of climate change on polar raptors with a focus on the Gyrfalcon).
