Cultural Heritage
Falconry is a cherished tradition in the UAE, deeply rooted in the nation’s cultural heritage and symbolizing the profound bond between humans and nature. Falcons are not only revered for their hunting prowess but also play a vital ecological role by helping to regulate prey populations and maintain the balance of natural ecosystems.
The Mohamed bin Zayed Raptor Conservation Fund (MBZRCF) is dedicated to the protection of falcon species and the promotion of their significance in both cultural and ecological contexts. Through cutting-edge conservation initiatives, scientific research, and community education, the Fund works tirelessly to ensure the survival of these iconic birds of prey.
In line with its mission to celebrate and share the UAE’s rich heritage in falconry, MBZRCF has funded the refurbishment of the Sheikh Zayed Heritage Wing at the World Center for Birds of Prey in Boise, Idaho. This revitalized space highlights the deep-rooted Emirati tradition of falconry and its modern-day relevance in conservation. Additionally, the Fund has funded the development of the Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed International Museum of Falconry in Brussels, Belgium — a landmark initiative that showcases the UAE’s cultural legacy while promoting global awareness of raptor conservation.
Below is a collection of photos from our ongoing work on this important initiative — a testament to the UAE’s leadership in bridging cultural heritage and global conservation.
